Collateral (Conditional) Assignment

Definition
A partial, temporary transfer — usually to a lender as security for a debt. At death, the assignee gets the loan balance; the named beneficiary gets the rest.
Exam tip
Absolute = ALL rights, permanent. Collateral = SOME rights, temporary (lender).
