Comprehensive Policy

A policy providing broad coverage — comprehensive policies tend to be "open-peril": they cover a wide range of losses and services and exclude only what is expressly excluded by the policy.

Major medical covers most recognized treatments unless expressly excluded, and doesn't distinguish accident from illness. A private disability income policy covers income loss from accident OR illness, at work or at home.
