High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)

Definition
Major medical with a high IRS-set minimum deductible and a capped out-of-pocket maximum — the insured pays basic expenses except ACA-mandated free preventive care. Required to fund an HSA. (IRS resets the dollar minimums/maximums annually.)
