Medicare: The Four Parts
Definition
Federal health insurance (1965) administered by CMS for those 65+ and certain younger disabled people. Part A = hospital insurance · Part B = medical/outpatient insurance · Part C (Medicare Advantage) = private all-in-one alternative · Part D = prescription drugs.
Exam tip
PARTS = sections of the government program (A–D). PLANS = private Medigap policies (A–N). The exam deliberately swaps the words.
