Physical Exam & Autopsy

Definition
Mandatory provision giving the insurer the right — at its own expense — to examine the insured as often as reasonably necessary while a claim is pending, and to require an autopsy unless prohibited by law (F.S. 627.615). A claims tool, not an underwriting one.
In plain English
The company can verify the claim with its own doctor, but it pays the bill.
Exam tip
Two constants: the insurer pays, and autopsy rights bow to state law.
