Primary Insurance Amount (PIA)

Definition
The basic benefit payable at full retirement age, derived from the worker's AIME (Average Indexed Monthly Earnings — lifetime earnings indexed for inflation). Every OASDI benefit — retirement, disability, survivor — is calculated from the PIA.
