Solicitor
Definition
An individual who refers prospects and solicits applications on behalf of a producer but is NOT licensed to sell insurance — a solicitor cannot bind coverage or countersign policies.
Exam tip
Agent binds · broker can't bind · solicitor can't even SELL — only refer/solicit for a producer. ⚠️ Florida caveat: "solicitor" is not a Florida license. Florida's equivalent is the customer representative (F.S. 626.015(4)), who must be licensed and appointed — F.S. 626.112 bars anyone unlicensed from soliciting.
