Vision Care & Hearing Plans

Definition
Vision care pays reasonable-and-customary charges for eye exams by ophthalmologists and optometrists, with partial coverage for fitting, contact lenses, and eyeglasses — commonly new lenses annually, frames every two years. Excludes safety lenses, cosmetic enhancements, plastic lenses, and frame upgrades; LASIK is often partially covered, but other eye surgeries and eye-disease treatment fall to medical expense plans. Hearing coverage in some private plans pays for audiological tests, hearing aid evaluations, and partial/full hearing aid costs.
Exam tip
⚠️ Trap: treatment of eye DISEASE is NOT vision care — that's the medical expense plan's job.
