Insurance Agency & Agent-in-Charge

Any business location where insurance transactions take place that only licensed insurance agents can perform. There must be an agent-in-charge at each licensed agency location where insurance transactions occur (F.S. 626.0428 — the agency files the designee's name and license number with the DFS). A licensed agent may serve as agent-in-charge of additional branch offices — as long as insurance activities requiring licensure do not occur at any location while no licensed agent is physically present.

Every storefront needs a responsible licensed adult on file — and if no licensed agent is in the building, no licensable insurance business happens there.
