Elimination (Waiting) Period
Definition
The time deductible: days between disability onset and the start of payable benefits (individual: 30/60/90/180/365 days; STD: 7/10/14). Longer elimination period = lower premium. Applies to EVERY claim.

Exam tip
Elimination = every claim, time-based deductible. Probationary = once, at policy start, sickness only. Don't mix them.
