Evidence (Proof) of Insurability
Definition
Proof of the insured's current health and risk status (statements, exam). Required for: reinstatement and increasing coverage (privilege of change / adjustable increases). NOT required for: GIO option dates, reduced paid-up and paid-up additions, COLA increases, renewable or convertible term, or an ADB payout.
Exam tip
The whole point of GIO, renewability, and convertibility is skipping new proof — if an answer says they require evidence of insurability, it's wrong.
