Medigap Core Benefits (Plan A)
Definition
Every Medigap plan must include the core: Part A daily coinsurance for days 61–90 and the reserve days · an extra 365 lifetime hospital days · Part B 20% coinsurance · the first 3 pints of blood · Part A hospice coinsurance. Plan A = core ONLY. All plans except A add the Part A deductible; all except A and B add SNF coinsurance.
Exam tip
The core never includes the Part A or B DEDUCTIBLES — those are add-ons in richer plans.
